As if it isn't bad enough trying to get some sort of return on investments today (forget about getting a decent return) there are still out there, the sharks and bottom feeders who will rip you off of your hard earned money.
History is littered with investment rip offs, scams and poor management. Equiticorp, Citigroup, most banks in America - all have lost thousands - sometimes people's life savings - because of fraud or ineptness. But don't forget that bottom feeders come in all sizes. Just go to your local BBB website, or one of the many whistleblower sites and read the sad tale of woe that these scam artists leave. Yet time and again, they seem to get away with it.
So, how do you keep yourself safe? Do GOOD due diligence! Scour the net - not just page 1 or 2 - go 20 deep. Read, read, read. And, in the words of my late Dad, "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is!"
